Description: Cyclin dependent kinase (cdk) activation is dependent on cyclin binding and phosphorylation of a conserved threonine residue mediated by cdk-activating kinase (CAK). A cdk-related kinase, MO15, has been identified as the catalytic subunit for CAK. CAK is a protein kinase complex consisting of CDK7 + Cyc H + Mat 1. DNA repair mechanisms and regulation of gene activity both involve CAK.
