Patsy Ruegg, HT (ASCP) QIHC

 

Patsy Ruegg has 30 years of experience in Histopathology, with 25 years employment at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center Pathology Department as a Professional Research Assistant in a Metabolic Bone Disease Laboratory studying bone and cartilage development and IHC techniques. IHCtech can test antibodies, molecular probes and biosensors in tissue or cells.

Grossing

  • custom gross dissection using a dissecting microscope and gel orientation.

Frozen Section

  • Routine frozen sectioning.

  • Tape transfer frozen sectioning for soft tissue.

  • Tape transfer frozen sectioning for calcified bone.

Paraffin Section

  • Processing.

  • Embedding including custom embedding.

  • Sectioning.

Glycol Methacrylate (GMA) Section including calcified bone

  • GMA processing and embedding.

  • Grossly sawing bone samples with a diamond saw to an optimal thickness for GMA processing.

  • GMA  unstained blank section.

  • Calcified Bone sections labeled with fluorochromes are sectioned as blanks (unstained) for UV light evaluation of fluorochrome label.

Cell Suspension Preparations

  • Cells centrifuged and gel embedded, these samples can then be processed into paraffin, cut and stained.

H&E Staining

  • For paraffin, frozen or GMA sections.

Special Staining

  • For cells, paraffin, GMA or frozen sections.

  • AFB, Azure B stain, Iron stain, Oil Red O Fat Stain, Pentachrome, Periodic Acid Shiff’s (PAS), Sirrus Red, Trichrome, Von Kossa Stain, Toludine Blue Stain.

  • Other special stains available upon request (inquire for price).

Enzyme histochemistry (EHC)

  • TRAP stain for Osteoclasts.

  • Alkaline Phosphatase stain for Osteoblasts (GMA processed tissue).

  • Other enzyme histochemical stains available upon request.

Immunohistochemistry (IHC)

  • On chamber slides, paraffin sections, cells or frozen sections (IHC) including positive and negative controls.

  • Immunofluorescence labeling (IF) of frozen or ffpe sections.

  • Inblock IHC on wet tissue that is subsequently embedded in GMA.

  • We have a library of 100+ antibodies.

  • We can provide most control tissues needed for IHC studies.

in situ Hybridization (ISH)

  • Fluorescent In Situ Hybridization (FISH) for any commercially available probe.

  • Chromogenic In Situ Hybridization (CISH) for any commercially available probe.

Histopathological Evaluation

  • Scoring of slides by a Histotechnologist under the supervision of a Pathologist.

  • Board Certified Pathologist report.

Antibodies Validated

  • Testing of antibodies and biosensors in tissue or cells

  • Testing of epitope retrieval methods for altitude.

  • Instrumentation evaluated.

Other Services

  • Technical support services for IHC/ISH methods.
