Some cells or tissues, such as kidney, liver, spleen, intestine, colon, and prostate, contain endogenous biotin. Using Avidin-Biotin detection methods (ABC, LSAB) may results in non-specific background staining. This non-specific background can be significantly reduced by pre-treatment of cells or tissues with this Avidin/Biotin Blocking Solution prior to the incubation of biotinylated antibody.

The IHC-Tek DAB Peroxidase Substrate Kit contains all of the reagents necessary to prepare a working solution for immunohistochemical staining of tissue sections or cultured cells. The DAB Substrate produces a brown reaction product that can be dehydrated and permanently mounted.

The IHC-Tek AEC Peroxidase Substrate Kit contains all of the reagents necessary to prepare a working solution for immunohistochemical staining of tissue sections or cultured cells. The AEC Substrate produces a red reaction product that is soluble in alcohol, so it must be mounted uisng aqueous mounting medium.

This Hematoxylin Solution is designed for nuclear counterstain after completion of immunohistochemical staining or for routine histology. Nuclei will be stained blue with crisp nuclear detail, which provides excellent contrast to DAB substrate (brown) and AEC substrate (red).
