Histopathology Artifacts Quiz

ANSWER CASE 28

The correct answer is not the obvious one a fold in the section but there are two distinctly different pieces of tissue on this slide. The tissue in the centre is kidney whilst the other piece is pitiutary indicating specimen to specimen contamination. This contamination was not apparent in the block so it is believed that it occurred either from the edge of a knife which was not cleaned between specimens or picked up from the surface of a water bath. So the answer is specimen to specimen contamination but also give yourself a mark if you suggested that the contamination came from a knife or water bath.
