anti-nestin antibody
« on: January 05, 2007, 05:46:09 AM »
Can anyone recommend an anit-nestin antibody that works on mouse brain cryosections?
I have tried the CHEMICON antibody, but without any success.
Thanks for your advise,

Joanna

For the chemicon antibody did you use mouse-on-mouse kit. If not, what technique did you use? It is a mouse anti-rat which cross reacts with mouse.

excalibur:

Thank you for the web site. Actually I have seen it before..but now before I will order new antibody I would prefer to here opinion from someone, who tested any nestin antibody...

ImmunoNYC:

Yes, I used Mouse on mouse kit, but I cannot detect any signal. In pararel I performed GFAP staining (also antibody was from CHEMICON) also with the usage of MOM kit and this has worked out... So next time I would like to avoid using MOM kit and I will rather order anti-mouse antibody

I am surprised the 401 antibody didn't work for you as it is reported to be very robust. But I too dislike MOM protocols so understand why you want to switch.

From the link Excalibur gave above, Covance Innovative has a rabbit anti-human which cross reacts with mouse.

Also appears Novus has a chicken anti-mouse nestin which looks interesting as well as a rabbit anti-mouse:

Let us know which one you choose and if it works. THANKS!

Hi!

I bought Novus Biologicals anti-nestin antibody and I happy about it. I am able to detect signal on my samples, (however I am using additionally Perkin Elmer TSA amplification kit). If any you have more experience with nestin staining, please let me know. All hints are valuable for me!

Thanks,

Joanna
