Microglia Markers

Hi,

 I am quite confused. What is the best and most specific marker for microglia? CD11b, lectin, CD68, Iba1 other? I want to stain rat spinal cord and brain and do quantification analysis between 2 different groups of rats. What is best in order to study if there is a difference in microglia activation.

For activation of microglial cells I would use the ab ED1, which recognises a CD68 like molecule in rat. If you use markers like CD11b or iba-1 you will stain both resting as well as activated microglia.
