Hi,

I am looking for a highly recommended, strong polyclonal antibody against a neuronal  marker to label fresh frozen mouse brain tissue sections (20 microns thick). Because I work in fresh frozen tissue and am doing fluorescent labeling, it needs to be powerful. I prefer a neuronal marker that labels all neurons types as I am trying to differentiate between whether neurons or glia took up a vector expressing my protein of interest. I need it to be  an antibody that is strong and good because funds and time are both limited for any potential troubleshooting. I have already tried an antibody against neuron specific beta tubulin III from abcam, which did not clearly label neurons in tissue.

Thank you so much for your help!

You can try NeuN (milipore-anti mouse) for neuron detection and S100 beta (abcam-anti rabbit) for glia. I have done a staining with both on 20micron sections recently they work pretty good. I have used 1:1000 for NeuN and 1:2000 for S100beta.
Hope this gives an idea!
