Title: Human Cells in a Rat
Post by: GabeArom on July 27, 2012, 01:56:51 PM
Hello Fellow Scientists!

I will be implanting human foreskin fibroblasts (HFFs) into an athymic rat. More specifically, the HFFs will be seeded onto a polymer construct and implanted into the knee capsule of the rat.

I need to be able to track the survival and proliferation of these HFFs, and (obviously) distinguish between our implanted cells and host cells.

I was thinking I could do IHC for a unqiuely human protein that is not present in rats.  Does anything come to mind?  Human nuclear antigen maybe?   Are there any other technologies one could use to visually distinguish between rat and human cells?
