Title: CYP11A1 IHC-P
Post by: EBallarini on April 21, 2015, 11:58:13 AM
Can anyone suggest me a good Ab to stain CYP11A1 (cytochrome P45011a1) on mouse tissue?

Good morning.

I have a problem. I'm trying to stain CYP11A1 on Mouse tissues embedded in parrafin or frozen but I can't find a good Ab.

I tryed 3 different Ab on mouse testis and adrenal gland (positive control) embedded in paraffin or frozen in OCT . I changed many protocols (antigen retrival, blocking, Ab concentration, washing buffers, timing, etc etc) I wrote to all techical support and to authors of papers who used the same Ab but I never was able to obtain a good and specific staining (low signal and high background).

These are the Ab I used:

    Abcam cyp11a1 ab 75497
    Santa cruz cyp11a1 (D-16) sc18040
    Proteintech 133663-1-AP

Can you suggest a different Ab to use?

I would recommend to search in an antibody database available at For antibodies to CYP11A1 you may check this link: In addition to the antibodies you have mentioned, Santa Cruz also has goat polyclonal (C-16) and rabbit polyclonal (H-165) antibodies suitable to detect CYP11A1 on mouse tissues. Also, OriGene has a rabbit polyclonal antibody to CYP11A1 suitable for IHC. In addition, there are several rabbit polyclonal antibody to CYP11A1, provided by Invitrogen (PA5-37359), MyBioSource (MBS128059) and US Biological (210368), which can be used for IHC on mouse tissues.
