Title: Glass Knife Makers
Post by: Turbanella on May 02, 2005, 04:35:52 PM
Hello,
Does anyone know of current glass knifemakers for ultramicrotomy? I've seen some used LKB models for sale, but newer products by largely unknown (to me) companies state that the knives produced by their instruments generally aren't useful for ultrathin sections. Thanks

I have always used LKB and have never had problems with them. You can even find them on Ebay if you have the patience to watch for one.

LKB Knife Makers were and still are the best ever. If used as per instructions (and details!) you will get consistent perfect knives.
Microscopy Labs in Red Bank, NJ sells reconditioned units at a fair price, guaranteed and support too. They also reconditon/repair your units. An other source is Ebay.
Marc.

LKB is the best ( I tell you in my experience) :)
