Title: Mouse Mammary Tumor Lung Metastasis Markers?
Post by: Jennybean on July 13, 2005, 03:53:45 PM
I'm an IHC newbie and I'm searching for a marker and/or protocol that I can use to show that lung metastases arise from mammary tumors in B-catenin transgenic mice. Anyone have any ideas?

Depends on what lung tumor you are looking for. Please be more specific.

Hi Paula- Thanks for the quick response! I think that all the primary mammary tumors are adenocarcinomas. I would like to try to show through IHC that the observed lung tumors are metastases from these primary tumors. I haven't been able to find a suitable mammary or mammary tumor marker to test! Please let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks!!!

Biogenex has an antibody specific for breast adenocarcinoma.

http://www.biogenex.com/antibody.php?show=000024

Unfortunately it is created in mice and you would need a Mouse on mouse kit.

Try biocompare.com and do a search for breast adenocarcinoma created in rabbit or some other species.

ER/PR would also show that it is breast tissue.

hi

There are also an antibody called mammaglobin. I dont know if some produce it yet. Think i saw it on dakocytomation web site (news) a while ago, think they got a license to produce it.

Are these mouse tumors or human tumors grown in these transgenic mice?

I would recommend for starters you find a cytokeratin antibody. I know of several good ones for human breast carcinoma tumors. Not sure about for mouse but you can look around for anti-mouse cytokeratin antibodies. I am sure they are available somewhere (for example I think DAKO has a wide spectrum one which publications have used with success).
