GFAP in mouse brain
« on: February 09, 2007, 12:36:14 AM »
Two questions:

(1) What is your most recommended antibody for this purpose. I have access to paraffin and frozen (frozen are preferred).
(2) What sort of staining pattern can I expect as far as frequency of positive events.

I have used the DAKO rabbit pAb with success but want to confirm my results or whether another antibody is generally preferred for mouse tissue.

GFAP is one of the first antibodies I used years ago. It is great because it works on frozen and paraffin with no AR. Any major company will have GFAP. Most are less expensive than DAKO. ;)

I've used GFAP( concentrated- Dilution 1:200/2 hours) from Biogenex many times on mouse brain. Worked perfect.

Hi,

I'm using GFAP antibody from Chemicon (MAB360) and I can relay recommend it. I used it only on frozen section and it was working perfectly. Unfortunately this one is not anti-mouse, so if you want to stain mouse's sections you will have to use M.O.M kit. But I tried this and it is working as well.

Greets,

Joanna

Thank you all for your suggestions. Can someone post a photo of what expected GFAP pattern is like in the brain and also eye? Thanks!
