frozen section storage
« on: March 01, 2010, 07:42:38 PM »
Can frozen sections be stored at room temperature, either before or after fixation with acetone? If the tissue is dry, the cells are dead and the proteins are denatured, why the need for -80 C storage?

Thanks,
Rob

Most labs either store frozen sections in the -20c or -80c freezer. The proteins might be denatured but the sections are still vulnerable at room temp. TO prolong storage most labs store sections in the freezer.
