Difference between IHC and western results... please help!!!
« on: March 14, 2010, 11:16:45 AM »
Hi there,

I'm currently working on the effects of kainate (an excitotoxicity agent) on dysbindin ( a schizophrenia susceptibility gene)

The results that i've gotten for western blot and immunohistochemistry results differs.

For western blot, I've harvested the hippocampus at the site of injury and results showed a significant upregulation as compared to the controls. This information is in tune with my real-time pcr results.

However, my IHC results have shown a downregulation at the site of injury (right hippocampus) and a significant upregulation at site away from the site of injury (left hippocampus).

As such, I am at a lost and have no idea how I should write my thesis which is due this month... I really need as much advice as possible.

Thank you for your help Cheesy
