Ganglioside GD2 staining in melanocyte
« on: April 23, 2010, 03:31:03 PM »
Hi everyone,

I am trying to setup ganglioside staining and I was told to use acetone since ganglioside is lipid and formalin fixation can wash that away.  With acetone fixation, I get the same pattern as my isotype control.  I wonder if someone knows how to get around this problem?

Thanks for your help!

Formalin will not wash away lipids. When processing to paraffin, xylene dissolves lipids.

Frozen sections, either fresh frozen or fixed prior to sectioning are needed for lipids.
