Sodium Azide & NGS
« on: May 03, 2010, 09:38:52 AM »
I use 5% normal goat serum for blocking purposes.  I also dilute the 5% NGS to 2%NGS and make my antibodies in that solution.

I keep getting bacterial contamination in my 5% NGS - sometimes within a single night even after autoclaving glassware, etc.

Can I add sodium azide to my NGS?  I am not using any HRP-conjugated antibodies.  I use biotinylated antibodies with Vectastain Kit/DAB for visualization.

Its 0.05% sufficient?

Thanks.

0.05% is sufficient. Make sure to store the solution at 4 C.
