Dissecting with fluorescence
« on: August 25, 2010, 08:06:39 AM »
Hey all,

Great forum you guys have here - I'm hoping you may be able to help me with something!

I routinely dissect mouse embryos using a standard stereomicroscope/dissection microscope.

I have a GFP mouse line that will be arriving soon and have heard of people dissecting under fluorescence (to cut out the desired structure of interest).

How is this done? Do you have to buy a special microscope (it is not sterile to use a communal fluorescent microscope and it is also highly impractical!) or are there attachments like GFP filters that can be purchased? Or some other UV light source for this purpose??

I would really appreciate any help/advice or input!!!

Thanks,

cdp
