CD163 for Kupffer cells
« on: October 22, 2010, 01:27:04 PM »
I'm trying to stain activated Kupffer cells in mouse liver. I'm using a CD163 antibody (rabbit anti-mouse) which does seem to be staining the Kupffer cells, but is also staining hepatocytes. Anyone ever had this happen, I'm not sure if it's real staining or background, but it is almost as bright as the Kupffer cells, and doesn't show up in secondary only or isotype controls. Any other suggestions for markers of Kupffer cells (and maybe specific for activated ones?)

When we are not getting the expected results for your tests the best thing is to consult your colleagues and get their advice before carrying on with your work and that are what is happening here - there seems to be some problem using the CG 163 antibody it doesn't seem to be doing the job perfectly! We need expert advice at such times and I am sure that someone can advise him on this one!!
