best microscope camera
« on: June 21, 2012, 02:50:44 PM »
I want to replace our old RT3 Slider camera, which produces washed-out images. Which camera (under $10k) should I buy as a replacement? I do mainly brightfield and fluorescence IHC. For fluorescence, I have a Mercury lamp and use Alexa Fluor 488/FITC, AF555/TRITC, AF647 and DAPI filter sets. My microscope is a Nikon E800.

Thanks,
Rob

Check to see if the Nikon Digital Sight DS-Fi1 can be fitted on your microscope. It is a 5 Mpixel camera. I like it a lot but the camera is only a third of the story. The second third is the microscope, especially the evenness of the illumination: I have it mounted on a Nikon Eclipse 80i microscope. The third part is the control unit and software: I have it connected to a Digital Sight DS-L2.
