Staining of nuclear vs cell membrane neurons
« on: December 11, 2014, 12:29:11 AM »
Hello,

I have often heard that staining a nuclear neuron/protein is easy and it the post fixation time can vary from 30 min to 8 h (for eg. IEG - EGR1) but staining of cell membrane proteins requires a reduced fixation time from 10 min to 2 h and it may vary but shouldn't be overfixed (for eg DRD1 or DRD2 neurons).

What is the reason behind this?
