How to Test APOE
« on: October 25, 2015, 11:31:38 PM »
APOE(apolipoprotein E), a kinds of polymorphic protein, participates in the conversion and metabolism of lipoprotein. The gene of APOE can adjust many biological functions and it has links to eye diseases. The research of APOE and its polymorphism are one of the hottest spots in clinics because the intrinsic link of these two plays a vital role in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases.
The earliest way to test the concentration of APOE is radio immunoassay.RIA and APOE Elisa are more sensitive than others. No matter what methods are used to test, the appropriate result must be produced in the standard assays. The effected factors of APOE’s concentration of blood concludes gender, age and smoking history. The concentration will reduce since people was born and will increase after they are thirty years old.http://www.creative-diagnostics.com/blog/index.php/how-to-test-apoe/

Proteins that bind with lipids such as fat and cholesterol are called Apolipoproteins. Their bodily function includes transportation of lipids through circulatory and lymphatic system. APOE also serve as enzyme cofactors and receptor ligands. These proteins are classified into six classes represented by A – H.

Apolipoproteins are tested for the screening of different medical conditions such as Alzheimer disease, thyroid disease and cardiovascular disease, etc.

The testing of APOE revolves around the principle of giving rise to competitive inhibition reaction between pre-coated APOE and APOE in samples. The colour development is then identified, stopped and the intensity is measured.
