Bouin Solution is a good fixative for brain tissue. Another alternative is 4% paraformaldehyde in 0.1M PB. Carnoy fixative is only used for specific occasion.

thanks, i found 4% paraformaldehyde in 0.1M PB isn't good for my lizard brian issue,especially bad for Nissl staining, the basic neuronal structure isn't clear ,necleolus and nuclear isn't clear .
