Food Steamer for antigenic retrieval

Hi,

Have anybody tried to retrieve epitopes with a steamer filled with citrate buffer?
I've heard that regular electric powered food steamer can be successfully used for antigenic retrieval in frozen tissue (protocol for IL-1, found at the NIH site).

I use an electric pressure cooker I purchased for HIER. I can program the exact time and either High or Low pressure for processing and cooking the slides...

I like to use steamer and it is easy to use, reliable and consistent. But do not pour citrate buffer directly into steamer. You will still need a slide container filled with citrate buffer.  Allow steam for 20 min or until temp reaches 95 C and then place slides in slider container for another 20 - 30 minutes. Cool for 20 min. Then rinse, blocking...
