EYE WASH FACILITY

Eye wash facilities should be located wherever acids, caustics, corrosives or other hazardous chemicals are handled or where the possibility exists of a splash from a body fluid. The recommended system is a mains pressure 'soft' water aerator attached to a flexible tube of sufficient length to treat persons lying on the floor.78

Stored water solutions are not recommended because they may be susceptible to bacterial contamination and do not provide an adequate quantity of water (15 minutes continuous flushing).
