ABC of Safety in the Biological Sciences
MOUNTING MEDIA
Many different types of mounting media are available. Each must be closely examined before use as some contain potentially dangerous chemical substances. Any spilt mounting medium should be cleaned up immediately as contact with the skin may cause sensitisation. Most commercial preparations are xylene or toluene based and the hazard relates more to the solvent than the resin.
