ABC of Safety in the Biological Sciences
URINE
As a body fluid urine should always be treated as potentially infectious. Urine specimens may also contain toxic chemicals which have been excreted.84 Sinks or sluices used for the disposal of these specimens must be marked with a warning sign and be disinfected at least daily. Disposable gloves and visors should be worn to provide protection from conjunctival contamination.86 (Also see body fluids).
