Histopathology Artifacts Quiz

This micrograph shows cracking of the bone matrix. It is virtually impossible to eliminate but it may be minimised by extending processing times to improve infiltration and by slow polymerisation of epoxy resins to promote linear polymers and produce a more flexible resin. The artefact is further reduced if diamond knives are used rather than glass knives. So the correct answer is cracking of the bone matrix.
